Final Broadcast Ratings: August 19, 2016

It was the softest night yet for the 2016 Summer Olympics, as just 20.1 million viewers tuned into the 14th night of competition. That is 2.4 million viewers less than the same night of the London Games in 2012.

NBC took the opportunity to air a special new episode of SUPERSTORE, which held just over half of its lead in's total audience and just 55% of the A18-49 demographic. That is a little better than the special episode of GROWING UP FISHER, which drew 8.9 million viewers and a 2.0 demo rating, after the closing ceremonies of the 2014 Winter Olympics. GO ON aired after the 2012 Olympics coverage, on a Wednesday night outside of primetime, and collected 16.1 million viewers and a 5.6 demo rating, with s 29 million viewers, 9.4 demo lead in.

The only other program of note of the night was a special Friday episode of BIG BROTHER. The reality series collected 4.3 million viewers and a 1.3 rating in Adults 18-49. CBS, and the other networks, hd many local preemptions for NFL preseason football.
