Cutting the Cord: SLING TV is Live

The newest "Over The Top" steaming TV service, SLING TV, is now available. Sling will set you back just $20 per month for a dozen of traditional cable networks. The service is by invitation only, but it is currently accepting requests for invitations on their web site (Sling.com).

What does SLING TV offer?:
For your $20 per month, you get ESPN and ESPN2, TBS and TNT, HGTV and Food Network, ABC Family, CNN, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, Disney and Travel, for the basic package. For $5 each, you can add other networks. For insistence, the Disney roster of cable networks are available to chose from. The service will also offer VOD.

What is Missing?:
SLING TV is not offering broadcast networks and stations, to keep the monthly fee down. Using a simple antenna will allow you to watch your favorite shows on FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS and CW, plus all the secondary digital networks, like ME TV, Grit, Bounce and Cozi TV.

How Do I Watch SLING TV?:
You can watch anywhere, anytime, from you mobile device, computer, TV or cell phone. it will run on iOS, Android, PC, Mac, Roku devices, and Amazon Fire devices.

If paying $100+ per month for cable TV depresses you, then this is a great new option, if your favorite cable networks are offered. But pare this with Amazon Prime and/or Netflix and you should be set for TV for under $40 per month.

If this had been made available last spring, I would have jumped right on it. After a year of cutting the cord, COMCAST had a great deal to add cable to my internet service. But for just $20 more per month, Who needs Comcast??!!
